Kiln
Formed Glass
I find the process meditative yet is extremely time-consuming and requires careful planning to achieve a successful piece. Saying that, one never knows what will emerge from the kiln after days of firing. The finished product seems as if it were unearthed from an archaeological dig – something ancient and unknown.
My initial influence for kiln formed glass was the cast work of Ione Thorkelsson. I studied this medium at intensive summer workshops at Sheridan College, Red Deer College and at SNACC here in Winnipeg. Through my connection with Prairie Studio Glass, I taught several intensive weekend workshops at their retreat in Miami, MB.
